Grooming is so important because it is more than just having a Clean Pet.  You're also preventing potential health conditions.

Coat:   

Brush your dog or cat several times a week, most Groomers say, no matter what the coat style is. Doing this will cut down on hairballs, which cats almost always vomit or eliminate in the litter box. Also helping your house from becoming less hairy from your animal shedding.

Eyes and Ears:

Very important to keep these areas clean on your pets. These are the main places on your animals that catch infections, an can become very smelly if not treated correctly.

Nails Triming: 

Mostly all active dogs that wear down their claws may not need nail trimming but declaw will need attention. If nails are not trimmed including the dewclaws on the inner paw, can grow into the animals toe pads and skin, causing pain and infection. When trimming your Cats nails you should just snip the tip of the nail. When cutting nails on animals it is very important to watch out on cutting the nail to short, especially near the vein (blood vessel) in the nail. Miniature Schnauzer really isn't a lap dog. They are far too active and prefers running around at high speed and digging, although they love people and want to be with them. The nature is to be sweet and loving, but not timid. Are an excellent watch dog because they are very alert. Barking is a preferred hobby. You can train him or her not to go crazy when the doorbell rings, but realize that is a normal thing with this breed. Schnauzer’s grooming needs are fairly extensive. They need regular clipping or brushing. Pets are usually clipped because hand brushing is a time-consuming effort typically reserved for show dogs. Clipping will soften the coat, though, so if you like the hard texture, resign yourself to stripping it.

The Lhasa Apso is a small, hardy little dog. The body length is longer than the height of the dog. The small, dark, deep-set eyes are dark brown and the pendant ears are heavily feathered. Exercise:

Lhasa Apso need a daily walk.  Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard.

The long coat parts at the spine and falls straight on either side. No trimming or stripping is needed, although when in full coat, they need to be brushed about once a day to keep their coats from matting. Some owners opt to cut the coats short for easier grooming. Dry shampoo as necessary. Check the feet for matting and for foreign matter stuck there. Clean the eyes and ears meticulously, for they tend to tear. Some owners prefer to get their coats clipped to cut down on grooming. This breed sheds very little.
