Shampoodles Pet Grooming Coconut Creek FL, Chihuahua Puppies

Chihuahuas are the world's smallest dog breed. Weighing between 2 and 8 pounds with an average height of 6 to 9 inches. Chihuahuas have a stocky body and slightly longer than tall, that is sturdy and muscular. Their apple-shaped heads feature dark round eyes, pointed ears and a pointed muzzle. Smooth coat Chihuahuas have a soft, glossy coat. The long-coated variety have curly or straight hair. Chihuahuas can come in any color or combination of colors, tan, black, cream, Blue Merle etc.

They are great little dogs for apartments. They like much warmer weather than the cold weather. They need space just like any other dog, just because they are small does not mean they can be kept in a small area.

Grooming your Chihuahua

Smooth Chihuahuas wear a velvety, shiny, close-fitting coat and have a ruff area around the neck. They have a very thin covering of hair on the head and ears. The tail should be furry, not bare. Smooth Chihuahuas shed, but they are so small that the amount is manageable for all but the most house proud. Brush them weekly with a rubber grooming glove or soft bristle brush to remove dead hair and keep the skin and coat healthy.

Longcoated Chihuahua have a long, soft coat is flat or slightly curly, and the dog has a ruff around the neck, fringed ears, feathering on the legs and a plumed tail. The hair on the rest of the body is almost as smooth as that on the smooth Chihuahuas have.

Brush the longcoat with a soft bristle brush once or twice a week. Use a stainless steel comb to remove tangles from the hair on the ears, legs and tail. If you brush the Chihuahua frequently, they shouldn’t need frequent baths. If he spends a lot of time on your furniture or in your bed, though, there’s nothing wrong with bathing him as often as a couple of times a week.

Use a gentle shampoo made for dogs and dry him thoroughly so he doesn’t get chilled. Never let him sit around and air dry.

Keep your Chihuahua’s big ears clean with a solution recommended by your veterinarian. Don’t use cotton swabs inside the ear; they can push gunk further down into it. Wipe out the ear with a cotton ball, never going deeper than the first knuckle of your finger. Trim his nails regularly, usually every couple of weeks. They should never be so long that you hear them clicking on the floor.

Shampoodles Pet Grooming Coconut Creek Fl, Matted Dogs why it's so important to groom your dog!

 What is a Mat?

A mat is a single upstart of a hair that wrapped itself around a neighbor, who in turn grabbed another and another. For curly and drop-coated breeds Hypoallergenic dog breeds (bichons, malteses, poodles, shin tzus, Lhasas, cockers), shedding hairs die and instead of falling onto your favorite sweater, they are caught by neighboring hairs. These hairs will rarely dislodge themselves, and require the assistance of a brush AND comb to remove them. If left to their own devices, mats will spread, forming a network, then a solid mass of dead hair that can eventually cover the entire body.

For double-coated breeds non-hypoallergenic dog breeds (pomeranians, chows, huskies, heavy shedders), the hair will die in patterns, forming oddly-colored tufts around the hind quarters, shoulders, belly, scruff, and chest. These tufts will turn to clumps. They tend to LOOK worse than the first type of dogs, but almost invariably, their coats will brush out easier and with less damage (or shaving) required (assuming they tolerate brushing).

What’s the Big Deal?

Matted fur is not just a cosmetic offense, but an uncomfortable, often painful sensation that makes simple tasks like walking or turning the head nearly impossible. A matted pet becomes susceptible to all sorts of unsavory infections and diseases. Like people, a dog’s skin needs air to survive and be healthy. Mats restrict air and sunlight from touching the skin, which in severe cases can cause the skin to mildew and decompose. If water is introduced to the mix, we’re talking damp skin inside of a solid fur sweater, with little opportunity to dry.

The blood’s circulation to the legs and ears can be cut off. And the skin can die because of it. Perhaps the grossest of all is the fact that where there are mats, there are unseen mysteries.

"I Bathe Him All the Time!"

But do you use a good shampoo, conditioner, and dry him thoroughly, before brushing his entire body til it’s smooth? No? Do you usually just shampoo him haphazardly, rinse as well as you can, then wrestle with a towel before he escapes to roll around and around on the carpet til he’s dry?
Like your hair, fur that is not cleaned, conditioned, dried off at least some of the way, and brushed out will become tangled. And what is a mat? A tangle gone wrong. When water is introduced to tight mats, they soak it up like a sponge, and dry tighter than ever.

Pet grooming Coconut Creek FL- Shih Tzu Puppies

https://petgroomingpompanobeach.wordpress.com/

Shih Tzus are not guard, hunters. But they may retrieve balls for you to throw. They are bred to do one thing. They are companion dogs who give love to the world. They’re best at being a lap dog. They’ll bark to alert you that someone is at the door.

Intelligent dogs, Shih Tzu like learning. They may take a little more time during training, and housebreaking can be a problem that requires perception and consistency on your end.

A Shih Tzu needs a daily walk. Play will take care of a lot of its exercise needs. Dogs that do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. Do not overfeed this breed or it will quickly become fat.

Keeping the Shih Tzu coat gorgeous is demanding. Daily brushing and combing is necessary to prevent tangles, as is frequent bathing (as often as once a week). In fact, many a Shih Tzu lover gives up and hires a professional groomer to clip those long locks short.

Height:14-16 in.

Weight:18-25 pound

Living Conditions:
The Shiba will do okay in an apartment if is sufficiently exercised. It is moderately active indoors and will do best with at least an average-sized yard. The Shiba’s waterproof, all-weather coat protects it in both cold and hot conditions, so it can live outdoors if you have a secure yard of reasonable size. However, it does regard itself as part of the family and does not like to be left alone outside. This breed would be much happier living indoors with its family.

Grooming:

The Shiba has a clean, coarse, stiff, short-haired coat that is easy to groom. Brush with a firm bristle brush to remove the dead hair and bathe only when absolutely necessary as it removes the natural waterproofing of the coat. This breed is a seasonally heavy shedder.

Teddy Bear Puppies: Shampoodles Pet Grooming Parkland FL

Teddy Bear dogs are not purebreds, but rather, a hybrid dog selectively bred to resemble a child’s stuffed teddy bear. Normally a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Toy Poodle (a Shih Poo), a Bichon Frise and a Toy Poodle (a Poochon), a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu (a Zuchon), or a mix of all three, Teddy Bear Dogs are normally small and fluffy with brown or black coats. Teddy Bear dogs are considered “designer” crosses and are bred solely for appearance, rather than temperament, health or functionality.

This type of dog is perfect for apartment life, but does require daily exercise in the form of a walk or a romp in the park. As adults, Teddy Bears tend to have large bursts of energy for short amounts of time, so do not over exercise. Fortunately, they are usually small enough to carry if they become tired during a walk.

Teddy Bear Dogs vary in size but are normally quite small, weighing no more than 7-9 pounds. Because they are hybrids, it is difficult to determine what health/temperament issues may arise. If the dog comes from purebred parents, they will be susceptible to health problems from both breeds. If the dog is more than a mix of two purebreds, it becomes more difficult to pinpoint potential health issues. There are, however, ailments that are common to smaller dogs, for example eye and ear problems, sensitivity to the cold, and bloat if overfed.

Teddy Bear dogs tend to be quite yappy and difficult to housetrain, but this can be alleviated through proper training. Beware when you buy the Teddy Bear for sale or Teddy Bear puppies for sale as they can become startled easily and may nip children, so they should be monitored when in the presence of others.

Shampoodles Pet Grooming Coconut Creek FL: Lhasa Apso Puppies

The Lhasa Apso is a small, hardy little dog. The body length is longer than the height of the dog. The small, dark, deep-set eyes are dark brown and the pendant ears are heavily feathered. The front legs are straight. The back legs are heavily covered in hair. The muzzle is medium in length. The teeth should meet in a level or slightly undershot bite. The feet are round, catlike with an abundance of hair. The tail is set high, well feathered and carried over the back in a screw. Some tails have a kink at the end. The dense, double coat is straight and long over the entire body, including over the head and eyes, reaching to the floor. Any color is acceptable in the show ring. Gold, cream, and honey are the most popular, but the coat also comes in dark-grizzle, slate, smoke, and multi-colors of brown, white and black. Puppy coats often change colors as the puppy grows. Owners often cut the dogs hair short in a puppy cut to make them easier to care for.

Height:
Dogs 10-11 inches a little less for Bitches
http://www.shampoodlespetgrooming.com/#!shampoodles-about/cjg9
Weight:
Dogs 13-15 pounds

These dogs are good for apartment living. They are very active indoors and will do okay without a yard.
Exercise:

Lhasa Apso need a daily walk.  Play will take care of a lot of their exercise needs, however, as with all breeds, play will not fulfill their primal instinct to walk. Dogs who do not get to go on daily walks are more likely to display behavior problems. They will also enjoy a good romp in a safe open area off lead, such as a large fenced in yard.

The long coat parts at the spine and falls straight on either side. No trimming or stripping is needed, although when in full coat, they need to be brushed about once a day to keep their coats from matting. Some owners opt to cut the coats short for easier grooming. Dry shampoo as necessary. Check the feet for matting and for foreign matter stuck there. Clean the eyes and ears meticulously, for they tend to tear. Some owners prefer to get their coats clipped to cut down on grooming. This breed sheds very little.
