Pekingese are very intelligent, but they are very independent and stubborn. May be a challenge training them. They consider themselves in charge of any situation so you must show you are the Alpha. Pekingese do not respond well to harsh training or discipline and it can cause them to become defensive and possibly to bite. Pekingese are very loving and affectionate with their family. They make excellent watch dog by being big barkers at strangers. Pekingese tend to bark too much.

Pekingese are...

• Small but extremely sturdy, and built.
• Have a very short face, large eyes, and a long thick coat which come is many colors.
• One of the most confident, and independent toy breed.
• They don't need much exercise.
• Usually accepting of other animals if socialized.

Grooming

The Pekingese coat requires daily brushing, and a trip to the groomer every 2 weeks minimum. One thing is there coat staying long does need attention. Needs Brushing to keep knots in control especially in the tail leg area. It is also necessary to keep and maintain the fur in the but area of the Pekingese clean and well groomed as the area is prone to soiling.

Pet Grooming Delray Beach FL: Brussels Griffon

The Brussels Griffon is a sturdy toy dog that is the number 1 look alike to the Ewok from the Star Wars movies. There large head is round with a domed forehead. The muzzle is very short, appearing to be pushed back. They have a black nose which is very short. The dog does have an overbite with a hanging tongue. Eyes are wide set and prominent with long, black eyelashes. The ears are high set, either cropped or left natural.

There are two types of coats, rough and smooth. The rough coat is dense and wiry. On the smooth coat the fur is short, tight, glossy and straight. The short coats are easier to groom.

Brussels Griffons come in four colors:

•  Red (a reddish brown color with perhaps a little black at the whiskers and chin)
•  Belge (black and reddish brown mixed, usually with black mask and whiskers)
•  Black and Tan
•  Black

Size:

• Height: 7 - 8 inches 
• Weight: 6 - 12 pounds 

Griffons are good dogs for apartment life and will do okay without a yard

Grooming:

To keep their coats looking neat, rough-coated Griffons must be brushed weekly with a natural bristle brush or hound glove to remove dead hair and then combed with a medium-tooth metal comb. Twice a year they need specialized grooming.

 Schnauzer Breed

Miniature Schnauzer really isn't a lap dog. They are far too active and prefers running around at high speed and digging, although they love people and want to be with them. The nature is to be sweet and loving, but not timid. Are an excellent watch dog because they are very alert. Barking is a preferred hobby. You can train him or her not to go crazy when the doorbell rings, but realize that is a normal thing with this breed. They are more inclined to bark than to fight, because of the watchdog nature, any outdoor-based Miniature Schnauzer will create problems with your neighbors.


This breed is a very smart breed and easily trainable. Have the ability to learn, added to there high energy level, make them great in agility, walking dog trials, and obedience competitions. They do need daily exercise, and a fair amount of it. Not going to be happy with a quick walk around the block.






Schnauzer’s grooming needs are fairly extensive. They need regular clipping or brushing. Pets are usually clipped because hand brushing is a time-consuming effort typically reserved for show dogs. Clipping will soften the coat, though, so if you like the hard texture, resign yourself to stripping it.

Chihuahuas are the world's smallest dog breed. Weighing between 2 and 8 pounds with an average height of 6 to 9 inches. Chihuahuas have a stocky body and slightly longer than tall, that is sturdy and muscular. Their apple-shaped heads feature dark round eyes, pointed ears and a pointed muzzle. Smooth coat Chihuahuas have a soft, glossy coat. The long-coated variety have curly or straight hair. Chihuahuas can come in any color or combination of colors, tan, black, cream, Blue Merle etc.






They are great little dogs for apartments. They like much warmer weather than the cold weather. They need space just like any other dog, just because they are small does not mean they can be kept in a small area.

Grooming your Chihuahua

Smooth Chihuahuas wear a velvety, shiny, close-fitting coat and have a ruff area around the neck. They have a very thin covering of hair on the head and ears. The tail should be furry, not bare. Smooth Chihuahuas shed, but they are so small that the amount is manageable for all but the most house proud. Brush them weekly with a rubber grooming glove or soft bristle brush to remove dead hair and keep the skin and coat healthy.

Longcoated Chihuahua have a long, soft coat is flat or slightly curly, and the dog has a ruff around the neck, fringed ears, feathering on the legs and a plumed tail. The hair on the rest of the body is almost as smooth as that on the smooth Chihuahuas have.


Brush the longcoat with a soft bristle brush once or twice a week. Use a stainless steel comb to remove tangles from the hair on the ears, legs and tail. If you brush the Chihuahua frequently, they shouldn’t need frequent baths. If he spends a lot of time on your furniture or in your bed, though, there’s nothing wrong with bathing him as often as a couple of times a week.

Use a gentle shampoo made for dogs and dry him thoroughly so he doesn’t get chilled. Never let him sit around and air dry.










 

Keep your Chihuahua’s big ears clean with a solution recommended by your veterinarian. Don’t use cotton swabs inside the ear; they can push gunk further down into it. Wipe out the ear with a cotton ball, never going deeper than the first knuckle of your finger. Trim his nails regularly, usually every couple of weeks. They should never be so long that you hear them clicking on the floor.
